This performance utilizes an outsized layered hoop skirt to explore the shifting architecture of a body in public space. The performer, adorned in a bright construction worker orange hoop skirt encompassing their entire form, progresses headless along the street. Skirts twirling, they form and reform an exaggerated personal space that defies traditional gendered boundaries. The incidental audience will navigate around the comical performative body, elevating the mundane act of walking in public into a joyful participatory dance.
Kaczmarek/Miranda is New York based artist/educator/curatorial duo whose work spans both experimental and traditional practices concerned with the act of walking as a praxis for artistic production, and how collaborative settings can be formed to become spaces where imagination and creativity are used in the service of hopeful outcomes.
