This processional performance addresses themes of intimacy, care, language and boundaries. Through the production, presentation, and dissemination of a series of care labels, made in collaboration with Michael Workman, past and present-day literary histories surrounding 14th Street enfold with questions of how identities are formed in relation to dress, and a specific, embodied sense of place. YES/ON 14th Street will be performed with Chicago-based, transdisciplinary artists Erica Mott and Darling Shear.
Project SiteKristin Mariani is a Chicago-based dressmaker, designer, and artist who creates works for dance, performance, and installation. Through the craft of making clothes, Kristin deploys aesthetic strategies, skill-based knowledge, and text to probe the historical, material, and labor-oriented underpinnings enfolded in any effort to clothe a person.
