Since 2012, Vaughan has honored the lives of murdered transgender and gender non-conforming Americans through the creation of unique garments, objects, flags and collaborative actions. This procession focuses on creating community engagement by providing spaces for connection, healing, and conversations. The project raises awareness of the violence that transgender and gender non-conforming individuals face in the USA, with Black trans women being the most targeted. The works that are created for "Project 42" bridge textile, printmaking, and sculptural processes into captivating patterns, each developed for a specific person honored by the project.
